Global Open Network Japan is paving the way
to a new future through digital transformation
together with customers.
My name is Shinji Tokunaga, and I was appointed CEO on August 1, 2019.
Although GO-NET Japan was founded in April 2019, the idea for the project dates back to four years ago. At that time, I had a hand in setting up this project while I was president of the Japanese subsidiary of Akamai Technologies. It started with a dream of building an advanced and innovative networked society with a high-throughput, low-cost structure in anticipation of the advent of a cashless, IoT-based society.
Now, I feel extremely humbled and excited to take on the important task of CEO of the new company. At the same time, I feel like it is destiny that I can personally help to provide the world with the tangible results of those dreams-turned-ideas.
I want to flexibly and quickly bring about innovation in the payments industry, in response to the dynamically changing business environment of the future.
The idea behind the GO-NET Japan name is to indicate that, as a global and open platform, we are providing an innovative network that will be used by a wide range of companies.
Currently, the number of cashless payments is continuing to increase due to the diversification of payment methods.
